SA516 Grade 55 steel grade is used in moderate and lower temperature pressure vessels steel because of the steel material chemical composition and the property in welding.

SA516 Grade 55 plates 40mm and under in thickness is normally supplied in the as-rolled condition. The plates may be ordered normalized or stress relieved, or both. AMSE SA516 grade plates over 40mm in thickness shall be normalized.
